DANCERS Dancers show respect for themselves by: 1. being prompt for class 2. being properly dressed in the uniform 3. hair up in a bun for ballet classes and in a pony tail for all other styles of dance Dancers show respect for others by: 1. keeping hands to themselves during class 2. waiting quietly for others to have a turn & listening for instructions from the teacher 3. waiting until the music / exercise is finished before entering or leaving the classroom 4. not chatting during class Dancers show respect for their teacher and the art form they are learning by: 1. being properly dressed and ready for class on time 2. listening when the teacher speaks 3. standing in a “proper dance stance” while listening to the teacher 4. asking to leave the room and re-entering quietly after the exercise is completed 5. finishing every exercise with poise 6. leaving outside issues at the studio door Dancers show respect for the studio by: 1. leaving gum, food, or drinks (other than water bottles) outside 2. never hanging or leaning on the barres 3. never running or doing gymnastics in the studio or reception / hallways 4. putting trash in trash cans and not defacing walls or tables 5. putting books and magazines away neatly on their tables 6. always keeping belongings zipped into dance bags in the dressing room
PARENTS Parents show respect for the dance class, teacher and studio by: 1. knocking before entering the classroom if class is in progress 2. taking outdoor shoes off before entering a studio space 3. making every effort to attend your dancers performances 4. not letting children stand in front of or hit studio doors 5. making sure your dancer has used the restroom before class time 6. having your dancer ready for class on time, uniform on, hair up 7. picking your dancer up promptly at the end of dance time 8. letting us know in advance if your dancer will be absent from class 9. clearly mark your dancer’s clothing with full name (shoes should be marked on the inside) 10. teaching children to sit quietly and read or watch the ongoing class while waiting 11. teaching your children to wait inside the building before pick up 12. watching your children enter the building before leaving the parking lot 13. discussing any issues with Director via e-mail or phone, not during class time
